Boston is the state capital of and largest city in Massachusetts'. It is one of the oldest cities in the United States of America, as it was founded in the early 16th century. This historic city played a key role in the American revolution with notable events like The Siege of Boston, The Battle of Bunker Hill, and the Boston Tea Party.

In addition to these major events in our country's history, Boston is known for producing many famous people known throughout the world. Well-known Bostonians range from television celebrities to athletes to great political figures.
Here are several people that you may not have realized are Boston natives:

1) Casey Affleck

Casey is a famous Hollywood actor and director, who was born in Boston. He began his career as child actor in a movie named LEMON SKY. He later acted in several movies like oceans twelve, eleven and thirteen and to Die For. To mention but a few. P.S. His even better known brother Ben Affleck is, of course, one of Boston's favorite home-grown celebrities too.

2) David Ortiz

Ok, so while he isn't technically a Boston native, we like to claim him as one of our own due to the way he has integrated himself into our community and brought so much joy to so many. Ortiz is one of the greatest baseball players who has ever played the game. He played for the Red Sox for years right up until his retirement. He was a designated hitter and first baseman. Throughout his career he won numerous accolades. He also set a record for the Red Sox by hitting 54 home runs in a single season.

3) William Fredrick "Bill" Burr

Better known as Bill Burr, this Boston celebrity is an actor, film producer and podcaster. He has released many comedy specials. His prominence came when he started hosting the AMC crime drama series called Breaking Bad. He is reffered as the comedian of the comedians.

4)Barbara Jill Walters

Barbara Walters is one of the most high profile television personalities in history. One of our own, she is a broadcast journalist, a writer and a television personality. She came to prominence in the 1960's when she was a segment producer, in womens interest stories. From then she hosted several television programs, such as, The Today Show and 20/20.

6)Uzo Aduba

Uzo is well know for her role in the Netflix television series, Orange Is The New Black from 2013 through the present. Her full name is Uzoamka Nwanneka Aduba and she has won and been nominated for several awards.

7)Conan Christopher O'Brien

This Boston-born television host, writer and producer will forever live in our minds for his founding contributions to The Simpsons as well as his late night show. He has also written many movies but he is most outstandingly remembered for his oustanding unique hosting style which many critiques call 'awkward'.

8) John F. Kennedy

Perhaps the most famous Bostonian ever, JFK was the 35th president of United States of America. He led our country from January 1961 until his assasination in November 1963. He served at the height of the cold war and was one of the most popular presidents in U.S. history.
