In 2013 she branched out on her own to become one of the leading Boston interior designers, creating Janine Dowling Design, Inc. Janine combines her interior design experience and intellect with a genuine curiosity about her clients’ lives. This creates a rewarding design experience for her clients: honest, organized and fun. Janine looks forward to working with you on your next project.

Teamwork

At Janine Dowling Design teamwork is everything. While we do partner with architects, furniture makers, window treatment workrooms and the like, our office is also about teamwork. Our project teams adapt to the scope and size of our projects. A consultation will have one designer and a full house rehab will have designers who understand construction, project management and the full decorative scope. We have a range of experience and education levels in the office. This diversity helps us meet the needs of our projects in the best ways possible. Our office is run by an experienced office manager who keeps us and the paperwork in line. One of the best things about our building is that’s its dog friendly. On any given day the team is rounded out by our furry friends.

Our Office

We recently moved into a new office at 67 Kemble St. in Boston’s Newmarket district. A former mill converted into commercial space, the building retains many of the original architectural details and character, but with modern renovations.

Newmarket Center was originally constructed in the 1880s and was home to one of the premier blacksmith shops in the region. Blacksmithing operations would run from the 1880s to the mid 1930s. After a period of vacancy, the building would be occupied by the Newmarket Wool Company who operated a wool storage and sorting warehouse. The wool trade in Boston would eventually dry up and the building was boarded up and abandoned. A development group purchased the building and adjacent lot, recognizing that the brick and beam construction, antique wood flooring, and stone archways would provide an innovative and vibrant space. After years of hard work and multiple upgrades, Newmarket Center is revitalizing the Newmarket Industrial District and attracting new business to the area.
